Ringaskiddy Relief Road Opens to Traffic

The Ringaskiddy Relief Road opened to traffic on Tuesday 28th of July, providing improved connectivity and traffic movement around Ringaskiddy.
The public should note that the new road will operate as a Protected Road, meaning that pedestrians and cyclists are not permitted to use the route. Appropriate signage has been installed along the road to clearly communicate this restriction.
The project was constructed by Sorensen Civil Engineering Ltd. and comprises approximately 1.5 kilometres of new single carriageway, incorporating new roundabouts at:
• Barnahely
• Loughbeg
• East of Ringaskiddy
The Ringaskiddy Relief Road has been designed to form an important part of the area’s future transport infrastructure. Upon completion of the M28 Cork–Ringaskiddy Motorway, which is currently expected in Summer 2028, the Motorway will connect to the Relief Road at the Barnahely Roundabout
The opening of the Relief Road represents a significant milestone in improving access to Ringaskiddy and supporting future transport connectivity in the region.
